Frequently Asked Questions

General
Who we are, which pests we deal with and how a treatment works.
We deal with rats, mice, squirrels, wasps, bees, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, ants, moths, carpet beetles, silverfish, cluster flies, flies, spiders, mosquitoes, woodworm, moles, foxes, and pigeons and other birds. See all our pest control services, or use the pest identifier if you are not sure what you have.
It depends on the pest. A wasp nest is usually treated in one visit of 15 to 30 minutes. Most domestic rat jobs take two to three weeks of visits, and mice one to three weeks. Cockroaches typically need two to four visits, and bed bugs either a single heat treatment for a contained infestation or two to three insecticide visits over several weeks.
Yes, for rats and mice. Follow-up visits to check and refill bait stations and traps are included in the price, and we tell you at each visit how the activity is changing. For other pests we tell you before we start whether a second visit is part of the treatment.
Yes. We visit in unmarked vehicles, so neighbours, guests and customers don't see a pest control van outside your home or business.
Often, yes, by proofing the way they get in. For rats and mice we seal gaps with wire wool, mesh and cement; for squirrels we fit mesh and steel plates; for pigeons we fit netting, spikes or solar panel mesh. Proofing is quoted separately. See pest proofing.
Rats can get into homes through damaged or redundant drain pipes. Our sister company, Urgent Drainage Solutions, carries out CCTV drain surveys to find the defect and repairs it. See rats in drains.
Prices
What a treatment costs and how you pay.
Our published starting prices are rats and mice from £200, squirrels from £240, foxes from £250, and fleas, bed bugs, cockroaches, moles and rats in drains from £150. These are starting prices; the final price depends on the job. Every other treatment is priced for your property, the size of the problem and the time of the visit, and we will explain the likely cost before any work starts. See pest control prices.
Prices depend on the pest, the size of the problem, the property and when you need us (for example evenings, weekends or emergencies). Call or WhatsApp us and we'll give you an idea of cost before we book the visit.
No. Proofing, such as sealing gaps with wire wool, mesh and cement or fitting bird netting, is quoted separately, because it depends on how many entry points there are and how hard they are to reach. We show you what we've found and give you a price first.
It depends on where the nest is, how easy it is to reach and when you need us, and we'll explain the likely cost before any work starts. Call 07999 935 929 or send a photo on WhatsApp for a quote. See wasp nest removal.
Booking
How to book a technician and what happens next.
The quickest way is to book online: pick the pest, add your address, choose the day and leave your name and number. You can also call us on 07999 935 929 or send a photo on WhatsApp; we answer 6am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Often, yes. Same-day visits are available seven days a week, subject to availability. Call 07999 935 929 for the earliest available technician.
Usually, yes, for the first visit, so we can inspect, explain the treatment and talk you through the likely cost. For follow-up visits to check bait stations outside, or in rented properties, we can arrange access with you, your tenant or your agent.
Yes. A photo of droppings, an insect, bites or a nest sent on WhatsApp helps us identify the pest and tell you what treatment you need. You can also try our pest identifier.
It depends on the pest, and we tell you when you book. For fleas, vacuum every floor and have your pets treated by your vet. For bed bugs, we give you a preparation checklist, such as washing bedding on a hot wash, before we arrive. For rats and mice, clear access to the loft, under the sink and behind kitchen units.
Children, Pets & Safety
How we keep your family, pets and wildlife safe.
Yes, when the instructions we give are followed. We use pet-safe treatments where possible, put rodenticide only inside locked, tamper-resistant bait stations, and tell you which rooms or areas to keep children and pets out of, and for how long.
Your technician tells you on the day, because it depends on the product. As a guide, keep everyone away from a treated wasp nest for 24 hours, and keep children and pets out of rooms treated with insecticide until the surfaces are dry.
No. Please leave bait stations exactly where we put them and don't open them. They are locked so children, pets and other animals can't reach the bait, and moving them stops the treatment working.
Yes. We treat the house, but your pets must be treated by your vet at the same time, otherwise they bring fleas back in. Expect to see some fleas for up to two weeks after the treatment, as eggs hatch and the young fleas come into contact with the treated surfaces.
Only as an absolute last resort. We work with local beekeepers to relocate honeybee swarms, and bumblebee nests are usually best left alone, as the Bumblebee Conservation Trust advises. Phone advice is free. See bee removal.
Grey squirrels are caught in live-capture traps and dispatched humanely, because it is illegal to release them into the wild under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Invasive Alien Species Order 2019. Red squirrels, bats and badgers are protected, and we never touch them.
Council vs Private Pest Control
What your council offers, and when a private firm makes sense.
It depends on your council. Some run their own pest control service, some charge for it, some treat only certain pests, and some no longer offer treatments at all. Check your district or city council's website, or see our guide to council pest control charges.
Mainly speed and choice. We offer same-day visits seven days a week, treat pests some councils don't, include follow-up visits for rats and mice, quote proofing to stop pests coming back, and visit in unmarked vehicles.
It depends on the tenancy agreement and the cause. As a rule, the landlord is responsible where the problem comes from the building, such as gaps that let rats in, and the tenant may be responsible where it comes from how the home is used. See landlord or tenant: who pays?
Some home insurance policies include pest cover, often as an add-on, and many exclude it. Check your policy wording or ask your insurer. See does home insurance cover pest control?
Yes. We work for restaurants, shops, offices, warehouses, landlords and letting agents, with one-off treatments and regular contracts. See commercial pest control.
Areas & Emergencies
Where we work, when we're open and what to do in an emergency.
We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, including Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Lincoln. See all the areas we cover.
We're open 6am to 8pm, seven days a week, and we offer emergency call-outs 365 days a year. Call 07999 935 929 or book online at any time.
A wasp nest near a door, a pram or someone with an allergy, rats inside a home or food business, or bed bugs in a guest room are all urgent. Call 07999 935 929 and we'll explain the likely cost before we book the visit. See emergency pest control.
Keep children and pets away from the area, don't block, spray or disturb a wasp nest, keep food sealed and off the worktops, and don't move bedding or furniture out of a room with bed bugs, as that can spread them. Take a photo if you can safely do so.
